Too easy. The Time Machine was written by H. G. Wells in 1895. The War of the Worlds was recently made starring Tom Cruise. Wells was way ahead of his time as far as science fiction is concerned and most of his books have been made into movies.

and he said it was too easy? Not for me! But now that y'all have pointed it out, I think I might read these books. They sound very interesting.

H.G. Wells is pretty much the father of Science Fiction. in 1902 George Melies directed Le Voyage dans la lune or Voyage to the Moon. This made it one of the earliest known science fiction films. A segment near the end was animated, making this one of the first animated films, too.
