Actor Profile: Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep is a consummate actress. Considered by many movie reviewers to be the greatest living film actress, Meryl Streep has been nominated for the Academy Award an astonishing 13 times, and has won it twice.

Meryl Streep has been nominated for an Academy Award in The Deer Hunter, Kramer vs. Kramer (win), The French Lieutenant's Woman, Sophie's Choice (win), Silkwood, Out of Africa, Ironweed, A Cry in the Dark, Postcards from the Edge, The Bridges of Madison County, One True Thing, Music of the Heart, and Adaptation.

Admittedly, Meryl has been in an Oscar slump with loses in her last nine tries, but that just goes to show how good she really is.

Her latest movie role was as Aunt Josephine in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, but she has a few movie in production.

Quick Trivia: Was a cheerleader and homecoming queen in high school. The children's TV series "Sesame Street" has featured a character named "Meryl Sheep", in her honor.

My favorite Meryl Streep movie by far is Sophies Choice. The thing about Meryl is that she's definitely not the prettiest thing to look at on screen but her acting is so demanding and so well done that you can't take your eyes off of her.

Quite liked her head-turning antics in that movie with Bruce Willis. Now what was it called...
