The Movie: Two detectives investigate an unusual series of murders. Mills (Brad Pitt) a young detective has just transferred in, Somerset (Morgan Freeman) a grizzled veteran is seven days from retiring. Someone is killing people using the seven deadly sins: gluttony, greed, sloth, lust, pride, envy, and wrath. As the detectives close in, hilarity ensues.
The DVD: This is a two DVD set. It includes four separate commentaries. I have listened to the actors commentary. It also includes a very cool documentary on how movie makers use color correction which allows them to film in any environment and make it look the same (blue sky turns dusty grey, green grass turns yellow) Very Cool.
The Experience: Warning: This Paragraph Contains Spoilers, If you intend to see this movie and don't want the ending spoiled, STOP READING NOW. This is not a movie many people can watch. The world in which these characters live is a dark, dirty, dreary, cancerous world full of sin. There are seven grizzy murders. Kevin Spacey takes a turn as John Doe the murderer whose own deadly sin (envy) completes the series. When you first watch this movie, you have absolutely no idea Spacey is even in the movie, much less one of the most sadistic serial killers ever seen on the screen even though you never see him commit any of the murders. The ending of the movie is also amazing. 10 minutes from the end and you still have no idea what is going to happen and when it does happen it is shocking.
The Aftermath: Well, since there are only seven deadly sins, you can't really have any sequels.
The Score: 6 out of 7 deadly sins, what do you think?

I saw this movie when it first came out. It must not have left as much of an impression on me as it did you. Then again, I need a movie that I don't have to think about too much. Plus, I'm not that into murder movies and I don't really adore Brad Pitt unless he has long hair (hehe). But, that's only my opinion.
It's not the kind of movie that gets major media attention. It is just a very good movie with very good actors.
somehow I ended up seeing that movie three times in a movie theater. My personal record.
