So it has been 24 hours and no correct answer? Maybe a hint or two?
The Question: This director has directed more Academy Award best picture nominated movies (13) than any other director. Can you name him?
The Hints: This director also holds the record with seven consecutive years with a best picture nominated movie, out directing Frank Capra who had movies nominated on four consecutive years. Coincidentally, the two streaks started the same year, 1936. 3 of his 13 nominated movies won the Oscar.
The Incorrect Answers: John Huston, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Howard Hawks, Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, and Penny Marshall.

So,this is an old guy I've never heard of so that leaves me out of the game. I can't think of anyone old except for Alfred Hitchcock and I know he's not it.
John Ford?
A guess, but with a little help.
Hitchcock has four.
Mick has come the closest. John Ford is second with nine.
Hint: He directed Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday
William Wyler?
Has Dad come in for the kill? I bet yes.
Dad has indeed come in for the kill. William Wyler is correct.
