Trivia Tuesday: Myers and Murphy - Multiple Personalities?

Saturday Night Live Alumni Mike Myers (SNL 1989-1995) and Eddie Murphy (SNL 1980-1984) are known for a multitude of characters, from Wayne Campbell (Myers) to Gumby (Murphy). Both continued to play multiple characters in their movies.

Who played more characters in these movies? Mike Myers in Austin Powers In Goldmember (2002) or Eddie Murphy in Coming To America (1988)?

Bonus Questions: How many of the characters can you name? What movie did Myers and Murphy star in together in 2001?

It's not even Tuesday yet, so this is Monday night trivia for me :o) I am guessing Mike Myers has more characters in the movies you mentioned. I remember Coming to America and remember that Eddie played a lot of parts but so did Arsenio Hall in the same movie, so think you're trying to trick us. But, I'm more familiar with Austin Powers so I'll pick that one.

Mike Myers played four characters in Goldmember

Austin Powers
Dr. Evil
Goldmember
Fat Bastard

And last but not least, Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy stared in Shrek and Shrek 2 together.

It's so cool that I get to make a fool of myself first....I'm thinking Dad won't get this one right. Hehehe.

Hey, I had to pick a trivia question Dad would have a harder time answering. He has been dominating.

Shrek is correct. Shrek 2 the sequel was in 2004.

Mike Myers did play four characters and you named them correctly, but...

well, let's give someone else a stab at it first.

I can't even venture a guess.

Eddie Murphy played the entire family at the dinner table and one of the guys in the barber shop (the other one was Arsenio Hall, I think)

I think that's more than four, although I can't name them.

Or am I confusing this with the Nutty Professor???

Okay, I know the barbershop was in Coming To America...now I'm not sure about the family sitting at the table.

Actually know I think he played a bunch of people in the barbershop, including the barbers and people getting their hair cut and maybe people just sitting in their.

Okay, it was a trick question. Eddie Murphy also played four characters; Prince Akeem, Clarence the Barber, Saul the Barber shop patron, and Randy Watson, the cheesy singer at the church function.

By the way, Kim and Mick mentioned Arsenio Hall. He also played four characters; Semmi, the Extremly Ugly Girl, Morris at the Barber shop and Reverend Brown.

Eddie Murphy played seven characters in the Nutty Professor and eight in the Nutty Professor II: The Klumps

One thing to mention, Murphy's secondary characters were just that, secondary. Myers played the Hero (Austin Powers), the Villian (Dr. Evil), the second Villian (Goldmember), and the Villian's main henchman (Fat Bastard).

I'm sure my brother, Randy Watson, appreciated being portrayed by Eddie Murphy.

Quick Trivia: James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair who play King Jaffe Joffer and his Queen Aoleon in Coming To America also play a King and Queen in another movie. They play Mufasa and Sarabi, King and Queen of the Pridelands and parents to Simba in The Lion King.
