Taken at face value, this film's take on the Frankenstein monster story could be considered as ground-breaking for its frank (albeit comical) depiction of subjects such as transvestism, homosexuality, cannibalism, voyeurism, adultery, and even incest.
When the film first opened, it had a traditional release, playing afternoon and early evening screenings. It bombed. In the mid-1970s, midnight screenings became popular and word of mouth began to spread that the midnight audience might enjoy this film. It began showing at midnight in a few places such as the Waverly Theater in New York and it became popular.
It developed a cult following. People began shouting responses to the characters' statements on the screen. These mostly include melodramatic abuse of the characters or actors, vulgar sex jokes, puns, or pop culture references.
Other audience participation includes dancing, throwing toast, water, toilet paper, hot dogs, and rice at the appropriate points in the movie (many theatres forbid throwing things that are difficult to clean up, such as confetti or buttered toast). Casts of fans dress up as the characters and act out the movie in front of the screen, usually with great accuracy. At the Tower Theater in Houston, people would celebrate Ralph and Betty's wedding by throwing rice.
Even after 30 years you can probably still catch a midnight showing if you know where to look.
Can you name this classic cult film?
Bonus: Who played Brad, Janet, and the Doctor?
Special Bonus Clue: Be sure to listen to the Audio clue, a clip from the movie. The link is above, under the Will's World title.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I've never seen it, but I think susan sarandon was the girl and tim curry was the Doctor...I don't know who Brad was.
You've never seen it but you got the correct name of the movie, you got Susan Sarandon as Janet ("the heroine") and the incomparable Tim Curry as Dr. Fank-en-furter ("the scientist")?
Wow, what happens when you do see a movie?
Anybody know who played Brad ("the hero")
Well, I guess since it's such a cult film I've must have seen that somewhere.
By the way, the picture on this trivia question is of the time warp, "Let's Do The Time Warp Again"
Barry Bostwick played Brad Majors. Bostwick is better known recently as the Mayor of New York in the televsion series, "Spin City"
I've never seen the movies either. In fact, the only time I went to see a midnight movie was at Texas Tech and we went to see Pink Floyds "The Wall".
It's a funn little movie. It really has to be your type of movie. It's quirky. You have to be a little strange to like it, which is why I do.
