Imagine, if you will, two friends, on vacation, on the beach in Hawaii, making sand castles.
But these aren't ordinary friends, they are two successful movie directors, and they are discussing their next movie.
Friend One says he has always wanted to direct a James Bond movie but has had no luck. Friend Two says forget James Bond, I have somebody better. Friend Two then tells Friend One a swashbuckling tale reminiscent of matinee serials and pulp magazines from their youth. Friend One ends up directing the movie while Friend Two becomes the executive producer.
Questions: What is the movie? Who are Friends One and Two?
Bonus Question: What is the link between this movie and The Lord of the Rings trilogy? What is the link between this movie and the Star Wars trilogy?

I will be in Austin for most of Tuesday on business, so just go ahead and answer and I will check tomorrow night.
The Indiana Jones trilogy.
Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.
Harrison Ford was also in the Star Wars trilogy.
Lord of the Rings....uh....dunno.
Mick beat me to it.
You know, you work hard to come up with neat, cool questions, you slave over multiple websites and sources to find the perfect nugget, you work hard and one answer can blow you out of the water. I asked what link Raiders of the Lost Ark had with the Star Wars trilogy expecting ya'll to take awhile to figure out that the inspiration for the name "Indiana Jones" and the character Chewbacca both came from George Lucas' pet Malemut dog Indiana, and then Mick comes up with the vastly more obvious Harrison Ford reference. Damn. Of course, Mick is completely right. Raiders of the Lost Ark was originally concieved by George Lucas about the time he came up with the idea of Star Wars. Steven Speilberg, George's friend, directed.
Oh and by the way, the link between Raiders and the Lord of the Rings is John Rhys-Davies. In Raiders he plays Indy's friend Sallah, In Lord of the Rings, the six foot one actor tackles the role of Gimli...the dwarf.
but the dog answer was cooler.
Well, I try to please
Will, I love coming into your blog and trying to answer your trivia. You, Mick and Dad have always been so good at trivia, that I feel kind of privileged when I can answer a question. You're questions are great so don't change a thing.
I'm not gonna change a thing, just a little disapointed with myself that I missed the obvious Harrison Ford link. (Like Duh, he's like one of the major characters in both)
