Number 97 on IMDb’s Top 250

As a boy a young Bruce Wayne watched in horror as his millionaire parents were slain in front of his eyes, a trauma which led him to become obsessed with revenge but his chance is cruelly taken away from him by fate. After disappearing to the East where he seeks counsel with the dangerous but honorable ninja cult leader known as Ra's Al-Ghul, he returns to his now decaying Gotham City overrun by organised crime and dangerous individuals manipulating the system whilst the company he inherited is slowly being pulled out from under him. The discovery of a cave under his mansion, and a prototype armoured suit leads him to take on a new persona, one which will strike fear into the hearts of men who do wrong - he becomes, Batman. In the new guise, and with the help of rising cop Jim Gordon, Batman sets out to take down the various nefarious schemes in motion by individuals such as mafia don Falcone, the twisted doctor/drug dealer Jonathan 'The Scarecrow' Crane, and a mysterious third party that is quite familiar with Wayne and waiting to strike when the time is right. Hilarity ensues.
Trivia: In the movie, Bruce Wayne is shown arriving at a fancy hotel in a Lamborghini Murciélago. The word murciélago is Spanish for bat (although the car itself was named after a prized bull owned by Don Antonio Miura, who had nothing to do with bats).
Well, this movie has restored my belief in superhero movies, a true American tradition. The movie reveals the origins of the dark knight and is based on Frank Miller's "Batman: Year One." Miller, if you remember is the author behind Sin City. The nice thing about this movie is that it gets back to the core of the story. It is more gritty then surealistic Gotham that the franchise had morphed into. Great Movie! Thanks Mick.

I think my favorite thing about the movie is the fact that even though it's based on fantasy, nothing in the movie seems so far-fetched to make it unbelievable. He's not superhuman, and all his gadgets make sense that he could actually have them and in fact explains why and how he has them. Even the villans have some sort or reality to them, which actually makes them scary rather than comical.
See what I mean when I said forget about all the other Batmans? This really does seperate itself from those so much that, other than the fact that the guy dresses like a bat, they have almost nothing in common.
Yes, I see what you mean. Even the Scarecrow can be beleiveable because he uses a neurotoxin to create the fear and anxiety. No vilians that are mutant waterfowl, no men who can't live unless thier bodies are below freezing, no machines that read minds. Even the car was a real car that could drive 110 miles an hour and could peform its own stunts.
Sorry, I've been out of pocket the past few days. Our internet went down and I've missed checking blogs. I haven't seen this movie, but I think I will now that you guys have discussed it.
