The Alphabet Project: B is for...

The Barbaric Beast Of Boggy Creek, Part II: And The Legend Continues... (1985)

In the swamps of western Arkansas lives a beast so hideous, so disturbing, so disgusting that it would frighten the hardiest of men. But enough about Old Man Crenshaw, we are looking for the beast of Boggy Creek. And so is a group from the University of Arkansas. The group consists of professor Lockhart, the narrator of our tale, Tim Thorton, who is all of 90 pounds and seems to have an aversion to shirts, Leslie Ann Walker, star student who doesn't seem to do anything, and her friend, Tanya Yazzie, whose only purpose is to complain. They venture into the wilderness in search of the legendary creature. Hilarity ensues. And then there were mulititudes of unnessesary flashbacks.

Trivia: Even though this movie is titled "Boggy Creek II" it is actually the third movie of the Boggy Creek series. The producer of the original Legend of Boggy Creek (1972) [which I hear was actually pretty scary] didn't have anything to do with Return to Boggy Creek (1977) [a disneyesque movie starring Dawn Wells (Maryanne from Gilligan's Island) and Dana Plato (Kimberly from Different Stokes)], so he decided to ignore that one and make this as the sequel.

Well, I kind of wimped out on this one and watched the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version of this, not that there is anything wrong with that. The crew from the satellite of love really had fun with this one. Lots of laughs.

Well, nobody guesses the movie, not that I was expecting anyone to. Here were the guesses:

Bedtime For Bonzo - Professor Peter Boyd tries to teach human morals to a chimpanzee.

What About Bob? - A successful psychiatrist loses his mind after one of his most dependent patients, a highly manipulative obsessive-compulsive, tracks him down during his family vacation. (What is a "w" movie doing here, Anonymous Ken?)

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome - Mad Max becomes a pawn in a decadent oasis of technological society, and when exiled, becomes the deliverer of a colony of children. (Again with the "m" movies, Anonymous Ken?)

The Big Lebowski - "Dude" Lebowski, mistaken for a millionaire Lebowski, seeks restitution for his ruined rug and enlists his bowling buddies to help get it.

Below - Strange happenings occur on a WW II submarine.

Bandits - Two bank robbers fall in love with the girl they've kidnapped.

Because of Winn-Dixie - A 10-year-old girl, abandoned by her mother when she was three, moves to a small town in Florida with her father...

Big Fish - A story about a son trying to learn more about his dying father by reliving stories and myths his father told him about himself.

Bright Eyes - When a maid is accidentally hit by a car and killed, her young orphaned daughter is forced to live with the snooty couple her mother used to work for...

Blues Brothers - They are on a mission from God...(both Impman and Kim guessed this one)

Blade - A half-vampire, half-mortal man becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires.

Basket Case - A young man carrying a big basket that contains his deformed Siamese-twin brother seeks vengeance on the doctors who separated them against their will.

B - ?

Back To The Future - In 1985, Doc Brown invented time travel, in 1955, Marty McFly accidentally prevented his parents from meeting, putting his own existence at stake.

Bewitched - Thinking he can overshadow an unknown actress in the part, an egocentric actor unknowingly gets a witch cast in an upcoming television remake of the classic show "Bewitched".

Bedknobs and Broomsticks - An apprentice witch, 3 kids and a cynical conman search for the missing component to a magic spell useful to the defence of Britain.

Blood Brothers - When Triad leader Hung's wife gives birth to a baby boy, Hung considers leaving the world of the gangsters...

Barbarella - In the far future, a highly sexual woman is tasked with finding and stopping the evil Duran-Duran. Along the way she encounters various unusual people.

Bambi - Animated film about a young deer, Bambi, growing up in the wild after his mother is shot by hunters.

The Brood - A husband tries to uncover a shady psychiatrist's therapy techniques on his institutionalized wife, while a series of brutal attacks committed by a brood of mutant children coincides with the husband's investigation.

Bloodhounds of Broadway - It was New Year's Eve in New York City, 1928. The champagne was cold, the dolls were red-hot, and everyone who was anyone was there...

Blazing Saddles - To ruin a western town, a corrupt political boss appoints a black sheriff, who promptly becomes his most formidable adversary.

The Bridges of Madison County - Photographer Robert Kincaid wanders into the life of housewife Francesca Johnson, for four days in the 1960s.

Beaches - A privileged rich debutante and a cynical struggling entertainer share a turbulent, but strong childhood friendship over the years.

Beau Geste - Michael "Beau" Geste leaves England in disgrace and joins the infamous French Foreign Legion. He is reunited with his two brothers in North Africa...

Billy Liar - Billy, a young man with a dreary life, spends most of his time daydreaming about a land where he is a hero...

The Blair Witch Project - In October of 1994, three student film makers disappeared in the woods near Burkittesville, Maryland. One year later, their footage was found.

Bad News Bears - An aging, down-on-his-luck ex-minor leaguer coaches a team of misfits in an ultra-competitive California little league.

Bang The Drum Slowly - The story of the friendship between a star pitcher, wise to the world, and a half-wit catcher.

Before And After - Two parents deal with the effects when their son is accused of murdering his girlfriend.

Backdraft - Two Chicago firefighter brothers who don't get along have to work together while a dangerous arsonist is on the loose.

Beyond the Posiedon Adventure - Adventurers return to the overturned ship, seeking a fortune.

Beetlejuice - A couple of recently deceased ghosts contract the services of a "bio-exorcist" in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house.

Wow, That was a lot of guesses (33). Whoo Hoo! So, isn't this fun? Are you up for "C"s? I don't know if it will help you, but IMDb lists it as an action comedy. You got a week.

Oh of course The Barbaric Beast of Boggy Creek! How did I not get that one. Yeah Right! Jeez! Will where did you dig that one up from???

On with the C's

Caddyshack,
Cannonball Run
Cannibal women in the Advocado Jungle of Death
Captain Valedor vs the Spider Queen

and finally

Captain Celliod vs the Film Pirates.

Trying to keep the theme of obscure films here!

Gee, Impman, you are going for the obscure ones, aren't you.

OK how about,

The Cheapest Movie Ever made

Cheerleader Ninja's

Conkers Bad Fur Day

or

Cornman: American Vegetable Hero

Although knowing you, you would probably pick a nice easy one this time.

Will said...

Conkers Bad Fur Day? Holy Cow...

Cheerleader Ninjas does sound promising though. ;-)

OK enough of the obscures, how about;

Cats Eye

Click

Carry On films

Captain America

Charlies Angels

Although Cat's Eye might not really be a comedy as such.

OK, I have no clue where my previous post went but I'll say Impman has already mentioned some of the movies I've looked at to list.

So...

Cannonball
Cannonball Run
The Calamari Wrestler (hehehe, I just thought it was funny even though you said you're not doing any more foreign films)

I was going to say Captain America and Click, but Impman beat me to it.

OK, none of the movies that I want to guess are action/comedies, so I'm thinking that giving us the category wasn't so nice since I can't find anything that matches the category. Soooooo, I'll list them anyways :o)

Carried Away

Catch Me If You Can

Catfish in Black Bean Sauce (another because I liked the title)

The Cat's Meow - don't you like Kirsten Dunst?

Cider House Rules (you've probably seen it, but...."Goodnight, you princes of Main, you kings of New England." I love this movie)

Cinderlla Man

City of Angels - another of my favorite movies of all time

Clockers

Clockstoppers

Collateral

Count of Monte Cristo

I figured if I'm taking the time to research movies, I'll list them even though they're not in the right category. :o)

I will have to watch Cider House Rules, just because my Sister said so.
