So I Married AN Ax Murderer (1993)

Charlie MacKenzie (Mike Myers) is a dedicated San Francisco coffeehouse poet, whose poems revolve around his numerous failed relationships. Every one that ends on his doing because of some weird, inexcusable paranoia. His best friend Tony (Anthony LaPaglia) and mother May (Brenda Fricker) can only criticize him for his wrong-doings. But Charlie believes he very well may have found the perfect woman in Harriet, a meat butcher with a heart of gold. But Charlie begins suspecting something about Harriet (Nancy Travis) that may not be so perfect. Hilarity ensues.

Trivia: Mike Myers performance as Stuart Mackenzie was based on the mannerisms of his own father. Sharon Stone was initially set to play the role of Mike Myers' wife. The maroon Volkswagen Kharman Ghia convertible driven by Mike Myers is the same vehicle driven by Robert Redford in Sneakers (1992), parts of which were also filmed in San Francisco the previous year. The butcher shop used for "Meats of the World" was Prudente Meats on Grant Street in the North Beach Section of San Francisco. Prior to being Prudente Meats it was known as Jacobi Meats, the oldest Kosher butcher in San Francisco. Today, the building houses an art gallery.

Okay, Kim, is something up? The two movies you had me watch both deal with killers. This is the second movie Kim got to have me review for correctly guessing my "G" movie. This is a good Mike Myers movie because he is funny without trying to over do it. He seems to be himself and relaxed in this one. There is a lot of signature Myers comedy in it. Nancy Travis is just absolutely the cutest she can be (I can't see Sharon Stone playing her). The best line in the whole movie was from Phil Hartman, the guard at Alcatraz, "My name is John Johnson but everyone here calls me Vicki." Thanks Kim.

She stole my heart....
and my cat"

We love this movie. I didn't realize that there was a connection of killers between the two movies I suggested.
Mike Myers was so great in this movie.
