Sunday Night Triva: Computers Are Our Friends Answers

Agrajag finally got his answers in and he only missed one of the movies. Kim did pretty well, too. Here are the answers.

1.V.I.K.I., (Virtual Interactive Kinetic Intelligence) from I, Robot

2.Deep Thought from The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Universe

3.Vox 114, the New York Public Library's Holographic Librarian From The Time Machine

4.Skynet from Terminator 2: Judgment Day

5.W.O.P.R. (War Operations Plan and Response) also called Joshua from WarGames

6.The Red Queen, the Main Computer of The Hive, an underground military research facility that accidentally created a whole bunch of zombies from Resident Evil (the Red Queen used a holographic representation of a young girl, the daughter of the creator who spoke in a British accent. It was spooky, especially when she said "You are all going to die down here.")

7.The Master Control Program from Tron

8.MU-TH-UR 182 Model commonly called Mother the main computer on the space ship Nostromo from Alien

9.HAL-9000 (Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic computer) call Hal by the crew from 2001: A Space Odyssey

10.And last but not least, Emerac, a business research computer in the Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn comedy Desk Set.

Well, considering I've not seen any of the movies except for the three that I got right, I guess I did do pretty good. :o)

You haven't seen WarGames and Tron? I am shocked, I tell you, shocked! You grew up in the 80's big sister.

Very challenging quiz!

I like that some of these movies have a more well-known robot (e.g. Sonny in I, Robot, Marvin in Hitchhiker's) but you went with a more difficult one to ID.

Sadly, I have seen I, Robot but still didn't recognize VIKI.

Don't tell anyone, but I've never seen WarGames or Tron either (or Desk Set, but I have seen the rest)...

Just because I grew up in the 80s doesn't mean I've watched all it's movies. I was too interested in the Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire and ET. :o)
