This weekend I went to an amazing exhibition at the Houston Museum of Natural History. It was the Lord Of The Rings: The Exhibition and it contains literally hundreds of movie props from the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy.
From the One Ring to a 20 foot miniature mill that took three months to make and was on screen for 2 seconds to a replica of Boromir in a canoe after his death (see above), the exhibit was incredible. What really caught my eye was the details. WETA Workshop created the props for the LOTR.
Each piece was a work of art in itself. Gandalf's sword had elvish runes inscribe underneath the handle. King Theoden's costume was probably my favorite. King Theoden was the king of the Rohan, a race known for their horsemanship. The costume had a horse motif. Every inch had a horse on it. It was beautiful.
It would take me too long to adequately describe all the wonderful things that I saw. It was a look into movie magic.
Welcome, Foolish Mortals!

How cool is it that you were able to go see this? It would have been great to see everything they do to make a movie look great.
Very Cool
I'm glad you got to go, sounds like it was fun!
