For those of you that do not know it, there is a game called the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Here is how to play: Pick an actor, say Denzel Washington, and try to connect him to Kevin Bacon using movies they have in common with other actors. In this case Denzel Washington was in the movie Philadelphia (1993) with Tom Hanks, who was in Apollo 13 (1995) with Mr. Kevin Bacon. This means Denzel Washington has a Bacon Number of 2, while Tom Hanks has a Bacon Number of 1 (was in a movie with Kevin Bacon).
The game was created by Mike Ginelli, Craig Fass and Brian Turtle while at Albright Collegewith the premis that Kevin Bacon IS the Center of the Entertainment Universe. According to The Oracle Of Bacon Of Virginia, there are 1888 actors with a Bacon Number of 1.
The first movie that Kevin Bacon was in was Animal House (1978), which means Donald Sutherland, John Belushi, Tim Matheson, Tom Hulce, and Karen Allen were among the first to be able to claim a Bacon Number of 1.

I bet you Kevin Bacon loved that this game became so popular. What a great way to know all of the movies he was in but to play this game, and why in the world did they pick Kevin Bacon.
Well, he IS the center of the entertainment universe!
It actually works with almost anyone. You can link people like John Wayne to him pretty easily.
John Wayne was in "How The West Was Won" with Eli Wallach who was in "Mystic River" with...Kevin Bacon.
The Oracle of Bacon has in it's list a total of 733357 linkable actors to Kevin Bacon.
The fun part of the game is to see if you can link to Bacon through well known actors and not through say, an extra.
What is even funnier is that everyone I know that plays this game (including me) does just like Anonymous did, put a pause before saying Kevin Bacon.
for example. Kate Winslet was in Titanic with Bill Pullman who was in Apollo 13 with (dramatic pause)...Kevin Bacon.
Then there are some of that would save Bill Pullman wasn't in Titanic, that was Bill Paxton and they would be right.
By the way, Bill Pullman was in Lake Placid with Oliver Platt who was in Flatliners with...(ta da <--dramatic sound effect)...You guessed it, Kevin Bacon.
