Tank Girl (Lori Petty) and her friends are living in the wasteland that is Earth, where all the remaining water is controlled by Water and Power, the mega corporation/government that runs the territory. While incarcerated at W + P, Tank Girl and her new friend Jet Girl (Naomi Watts) break out and steal...a tank and a jet (come on, what else would it be?). After meeting some mutant kangaroo/humans, and rescuing her little girl (adopted by her friends), the kangaroos and the girls kick Water and Powers' butt. Hilarity ensues.
Trivia: Rebecca (Tank Girl) wears 18 different outfits and hairstyles throughout the film. When Lori Petty first saw the script for Tank Girl, she saw a sketch of the lead character which made her laugh and say, "That's me, I'm Tank Girl." The song "Girl U Want" played during the film's title sequence was performed by Devo who re-recorded it to sound like the Soundgarden version - which was too expensive to license.
I have always been a little curious about this movie, it seemed to be pretty irreverent from watching the trailers and I have remembered it even though it was from 1995, but when I heard that Naomi Watts was in I had to see it (after seeing her performance in Mulholland Dr.) I was not disappointed. It was irreverent, and deliciously so. Lori Petty was a wise cracking ball of energy and her voice (middle to high with a touch of rasp) just seems to get to me for some reason. Then there was Naomi Watts, she played the shy, unassuming, smart, beautiful Jet Girl, and she had black hair! (I have nothing against blonds, but I like darker hair) Malcolm McDowell is really good at playing bad guys. But what really surprised me was Ice T and the Rippers (Kangaroo guys). They were under tons of make-up but you could still see their personalities come out. Now this by no means a movie for everyone, but it was a very fun romp. It really gives you that comic book feel, which is where Tank Girl came from.
Note: This is your last chance to guess my "B" movie. I will post it tomorrow.

I'm wondering if you'd consider helping us a little by giving us the category the movie is (i.e. drama, comedy, action)
By the way, I finally was able to see Donnie Darko. I'd really wanted to see it and kept looking for it at the video store here. I finally found it in Horror. Ummm, it's not really a horror movie. So, I wanted to say that you were right in your post about the movie saying that I'd like it. I did. What a freaky ending.

Oh what the heck I give in!
