All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
I like watchin' the puddles gather rain
And all I can do is just pour some tea for two
and speak my point of view
But it's not sane, It's not sane

For those of you that don't know, I live in Houston. And for those of you that don't watch news or don't pay attention to news half way across the world, Hurricane Ike is bearing down on us and it looks like it will be pretty bad. I will be blogging at regular intervals until we lose power, and we may get a treat and have a guest blogger, my sister Kim. So a little background. I am currently at my parent's house in Coldspring Texas which is 105 north of Galveston. The current forecasted track of Ike is to follow the I-45 corridor through Houston and north through southeast Texas. This could be a problem for us because it will put us on the dirty side of the storm.
The dirty side of a hurricane is the north east quadrant of the storm. The reason it is called the dirty side is that because of the counter clockwise rotation of the storm, the strongest wind is there and the most rain is there because the storm picks up moisture as it sweeps over the water and dumps it on the dirty side. By the time it gets to the clean side, most of the rain has already been dropped.
So for now we are just waiting as Ike inches forward. I will keep you updated.
