Poll: Favorite Actor or Actress (90's)

Who is your favorite actor or actress from the 1990's? (rules: Can be any actor or actress who has worked in movies or television in the 1990's)

For me, I would have to say Kevin Spacey. His characters tend to take over movies. Characters like Verbal Kint in the Usual Suspects and Lester Burnham in American Beauty, both of which he won Academy Awards for. He is great.

By the way, Kevin Spacey is playing Lex Luther in the new Superman Returns scheduled to release in 2006.

I would most definitely say my favorite actor from the 90's is Tom Hanks. Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, A League of Their Own, That Thing You Do, Toy Story, Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile. I think he's a superb actor, able to do comedy and drama both equally well.

Kevin Spacey is an excellent choice. Great Actor.

I was going to say Tom Hanks too, before I even saw Kim's comment.

As for actress....I guess Meg Ryan. There's probably a better choice, if I think of it I'll come back and let you know!

I'll go with an old-timer, Burt Lancaster. He had a long and impressive career, one of the last real "movie stars". He made his first film in the mid 1940's but was in "Field of Dreams" in the '90's. I'm not sure if that was his last film or not.

Tom Hanks certainly qualifies. Hanks has been nominated for 5 oscars, 3 in the 90's, including 2 wins in back to back years for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. Quite a long way from Kip "Buffy" Wilson from "Bosom Buddies."

Meg Ryan has been in movies like Sleepless In Seattle with Tom Hanks and You've Got Mail with...Tom Hanks, Hey! I see a trend here! Anyway she is a good choice too.

Burt Lancaster made three television appearances in the 1990's before his death in 1994. He definately qualifies and is a very good choice. His role as "Moonlight" Graham in 1989's Field of Dreams capped a very good career. Nominated for 4 oscars, he is probably most well-known for his oscar nominated romp in the waves with Deborah Kerr in From Here To Eternity and his oscar winning role as Elmer Gantry. Good Choice!

Watch for more polls to come.

I got the year wrong again? Goes to show how much I know about movies. I thought Field of Dreams was in the 90's.
